The Okolo republiky format has been the same from the very beginning – themed checkpoints, and everyone chooses their own way between them. We have set off in search of lookout towers, dams, castles, châteaux and windmills… but one purely Czech theme was still missing. And so 2027 will belong to beer, or more precisely to microbreweries.
Last year the race visited all the neighbouring countries; this year there will be hardly any trips across the border. Short crossings, yes, but nothing major. With beer as the theme, what would we be looking for abroad anyway? This time, there is no place like home.

Routes of the 2026 edition
Over seven editions, Okolo republiky has taken us to lookout towers, dams, castles, châteaux and windmills. But one purely Czech theme was still missing. And so 2027 will belong to beer, or rather to microbreweries.
For some, the long route may be too much – they are just starting out, want to give it a try or lack time off. Okolo republiky 900 is the ideal choice for them. Same theme, just fewer checkpoints.
Road, gravel or mountain bike. Your determination is what counts.

Unsupported doesn't mean without rules.
Fair play and your own safety always come first.
You sort out food, drink, accommodation and servicing yourself, on the spot. No support vehicle and no pre-planned logistical help. All participants must have the same opportunity.
On the 1 400 and 900 km routes only the checkpoints are mandatory. You choose the way between them, your stops and places to sleep yourself. The long and the short route split at the fourth checkpoint in Kamenice.
The 1 400 and 900 km routes have a limit of 7 days, i.e. 168 hours. The clock runs non-stop from start to finish. The categories are men, women and pairs.
You can set off on a road, gravel or mountain bike powered by your own strength. A cycling helmet is essential. In the dark and in poor visibility you need a front and a rear light and a reflective vest, braces or a similar item. The organiser's tracker must stay switched on for the whole time you take part.
The 2027 edition starts on Saturday 21 August at 9:00 on Rýchorské náměstí in Žacléř. The finish is in the Bobr district, at house no. 111. After arriving, you can use a shower, basic refreshments and a place to sleep.
The race is ridden in full road traffic, at your own risk and in compliance with traffic rules. Each participant arranges their own insurance. You will find the details under the race rules link.

OKOLO REPUBLIKY 2026- The Okolo republiky rules are not changing at all; we keep alternating directions, and every even-numbered edition means starting eastwards. The long route is approx. 1500 km, the short one 850 km. The entry fee is the same as in previous years, start and finish in Žacléř, 7-day limit.
- The Friday pre-race get-together with a talk and dinner has proved its worth, so there is no reason to change anything. Afterwards you can also sleep over in the gym, and at the finish there will be a shower, a place to sleep and light refreshments. All free of charge.
- All checkpoints are small regional microbreweries, with one exception, Pilsner Urquell. It could hardly be missing. Each of them should offer food and drink during opening hours, but please approach the liquids with moderation :)
